Norwegian Seafood Council successfully finished sushi chef competition ‘The 1st Global Sushi Challenge in Korea’ on 18th of June.

‘The 1st of Global Sushi Challenge’ was held to commemorate the birth of Norwegian fresh salmon sushi. For the challenge, participants’ task was to create ‘Edomae sushi’ and ‘Original sushi’ (creative sushi).

Winners are as below.

The 1st Winner: Chef. HAN, DEA-WON (Sheraton hotel Incheon)

The 2nd Prize: Chef. JANG, JONG-HYUN (Sushi Jang)

The 3rd Prize: Chef. LEE, BYUNG-GYU (Grand Intercontinental Hotel)

Chef. Han, Dae-Won , the 1st place winner, is a veteran chef who has more than 10 years of experience as a sushi chef. He is also from 55th of Master Craftsman Cook (Japanese Food). He was selected as a winner by creative plating using salmon. He will be offered flight ticket and meals for 3 nights to the Grand Final in Tokyo. Winner of the Grand Final in Japan will receive a customized 3 days of sushi experience in Japan, 1 day travel to Tokyo, sushi knife and trophy.

Chef. Han, Dae-Won said “I am so honor to be a winner among eminent competitors. I am also so pleased to have an opportunity to contest with other talented chefs around world. I will do my best as a Korean representative to win Global Sushi Challenge.”

‘The 1st Global Sushi Challenge’ is the biggest international sushi competition which is held in 14 countries and Global Sushi Challenge combines the best of two worlds: Japan’s sushi tradition and Norway’s fresh salmon widely enjoyed as sushi topping around the world.
